Is America declining?

Where America is as a nation

THIS PAST WEEK I CAME ACROSS INFORMATION CLAIMS AMERICA IS A NATION OF LIARS.

1.   81% of the people in our culture are described as lying about their feelings.
2.   75% are believed to lie to their friends.
3.   69% of adults are said to lie to their spouses.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO OUR SOCIETY?

1)    Key word: “relativism.”
2)    Deut. 12:8– READ
i)      Similar statements are made in the book of Judges.
ii)     Israel had no “king” (Judg. 17:6; 21:25), so once again the people did “what seemed right to them.”

3)    Many no longer believe there is “truth” and this 9 is how we receive true “freedom” (Jn. 8:32).

POINT 2 - EXPERIMENTATION.

1)    In Rom. 1:25 Paul spoke of “exchanging the truth for a lie.”
2)    Previous generations have been interested in going “against nature” (Rom. 1:26).
3)     Men have wanted to show their “wisdom” but what they really ended up with was foolishness (Rom. 1:22).
4)     Experimentation can lead to “vain reasoning” and “hearts” which are “senseless and darkened” (Rom. 1:21).
5)     A new word – “transabled.”

PLURALISM.

1)    Pluralism is a fancy word for saying all viewpoints and positions are of equal value.
2)    Jesus as THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE.

3)     ONE body, ONE spirit, and ONE hope (Eph. 4:4).
4)     ONE Lord, ONE faith, and ONE acceptable baptism (Eph. 4:5).
5)     The message of Christ is offensive to those who believe in relativism, experimentation and pluralism.

 “DECONSTRUCTIONISM.”
i)      The word “construct” means to “built.”  “Deconstruct” is the opposite of “construct.”
ii)    Deconstructionism is the rejection of the historical way human beings have communicated.

2)    It is very difficult to reason and reach those who are open to deconstruction.
3)    In the church we have this attitude.
4)     1 Cor. 14:8 says if trumpets “make uncertain sounds” there will be confusion.
1)     Point 5 is that life is pretty much pointless.  More and more are seeing life as having no real significance.
2)     Point 6 - “the search for community.”
3)     In our society is not uncommon to encounter those who claim they are “spiritual” (point 7).
4)     In trying to meet the needs which God designed to address in the church, man’s heart years for faith.
