1)
Back in the book of Exodus (3:5) God appeared to Moses
in a burning bush.
2)
Ex. 3:5 says Moses was “standing on holy ground.”
3)
9 chapters later in Ex. 12 we read about an item which
pricks our attention a little more.
4)
Here the writer (Ex. 12:16) spoke about a “holy
convocation.”
5)
Our worship is not play time; it is not a social outing
– worship is a time to enter into a holy assembly.
6)
Revelation – 5:10
7)
Christians are citizens of the kingdom; John said the citizens
in Christ’s kingdom are priests.
8)
Rev. 20:6 – READ
9)
The “first resurrection” described in Rev. 20:6 refers
to the process of becoming a Christian.
10) After a person is baptized
into Christ for forgiveness of sins, he or she is “raised from dead” (Rom.
6:4).
11) This
person is “blessed” (fortunate, well off, in a better position because sins are
gone).
12) When a person has become a
Christian and is thus “holy,” the “2d death” (hell) has “now power over them.”
13) The
Bible says there is only one road to avoid hell.
14) Isa.
35:8-9:
15) And
a highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The
way of holiness ; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be
for (the redeemed): the wayfaring men, yea fools, shall not err (therein). No lion shall be there, nor shall any
ravenous beast go up thereon; they shall not be found there; but the redeemed
shall walk (there):
16) Heb.
12:14, READ
17) An
example about holiness and what it means is found in the 6th chapter
of Isaiah, the first 10 verses.
i)
Isaiah said he “saw the Lord sitting upon a throne,
high and lifted up.”
ii)
Above deity “stood the seraphim.”
iii) These creatures are
described as having six wing and the used two of them to “cover” their faces.
iv)
These creatures were free from sin, but the holiness of
God is so great they covered their faces.
18) In
verse 3 the Bible says they “cried unto another,” saying, “Holy, holy, holy, is
Jehovah of hosts.”
19) Verse 5 tells us this
prophet said, WOE IS ME! I AM
UNDON! I AM A MAN OF UNCLEAN LIPS!
20) Unholy
people do not want to be in God’s presence.
21) What
do “holy people” do?
22) They
do not get some special clothes and wear religious jewelry.
23) Holy
people are those who become Christians and then have the attitude, “Here I am;
use me.”
24) In
Tit. 1:8 Paul said elders are to be “holy.”
25) The
church needs “holy elders,” but it also needs holiness with all its members.
26) Are
we “holy”? Have we experienced the first
resurrection?
