How much do you love Jesus?

Mar 16:2  And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.

The first people at the tomb of Jesus were women. Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome, were very early in the morning at the tomb of Jesus with sweet spices to anoint the body of Jesus. These women knew Jesus well. They knew Him in both Galilee and Jerusalem. These women did not leave Jesus when He died. They were near the cross when He was crucified. They were there when He died. These women also watched while the men buried Jesus’ dead body (Mark 15:47). And these same women would return there very early on the Sunday morning (Mark 16:1). What does it tell us? They loved Jesus. Their love for Jesus could be seen by their actions. They loved Jesus when He was alive. They loved Him when He was dead. Their love for Jesus never failed.

How much do you love Jesus? Would you wake up gladly on Sunday mornings to be with Jesus in worship? Would you do it daily? Would you wake up early each morning to feast on His word?

I am not saying it just because I am an early bird. Yes, I love doing what I am doing each morning. I love reading the bible. I love sharing my thoughts on what I have read. And I am glad you are reading it. And I hope you have benefited from the things that I have written. They certainly benefit me.

When we love someone, we do not count the cost whether it is time, energy, or money. We will think every second, every ounce of energy, and every cent spent is worth it. That’s love. So, how do we love God? Do we love God with the same intensity as we love another person?

The church at Ephesus was rebuked for losing her first love (Revelations 2:4). It is a love that has grown dim, that has lost its sparks. As a result, the Ephesian church became senile and inactive. Christ warned her: “Repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent” (Revelations 2:5).

Love can be seen by her works. How do you know your husband loves you? His actions show it! The women at the tomb demonstrated their love for Jesus. How can we show that we love God? Indeed, we need to prove that we love Him: “Wherefore shew ye to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love,” (2 Corinthians 8:24).

Here are 7 simple steps to show we love God:
1.      PRAY: We love to talk to the one we love. “Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice” (Psalm 55:17)
2.      STUDY: We will love to hear from the other person too. “But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night” (Psalm 1:2)
3.      WORSHIP: We will honour the one we profess to love. “Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve” (Matthew 4:10)
4.      SERVE: We will love to serve the one we honour. “Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing” (Psalm 100:2)
5.      LOVE: We will love the ones whom the one we love loves. “And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also” (1 John 4:21)
6.      CHANGE: We will change for the better to be with the one we love. “And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him” (Colossians 3:10)
7.      OBEY: We will listen to the one we love. “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (1 John 4:15)

As we see the lives of those women who loved Jesus, we see their actions tell us how much they loved their Lord. Do you love God? Do your actions show that you love God? Let our life, conduct, worship, and service, prove that we love God.
