Psa 104:24 O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.

Psalm 104 is a song of praise about the beauty of God’s creation. And obviously, a beautiful creation requires an intelligent Creator. Only fools will believe that a beautiful and orderly universe came about by a Big Bang. We have seen and read about explosions occurring in this world, but we have never seen beauty coming out from an explosion. Who would believe that the car came about as a result of an explosion in a scrap yard? The atheists will not believe it either. Yet, they believe this orderly and beautiful universe came about as a result of a huge explosion. David has this to say to them: “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God” (Psalm 14:1).

The Psalmist sees the beauty of God’s creation and proclaims God: “O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches” (v.24).

This amazing universe and this beautiful planet are created by God: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). The creation tells us about God: “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork” (Psalm 19:1).

Hence, before the Psalmist talks about the beauty of God’s creation, he first introduces us to its magnificent Creator: “Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty. Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain” (v.1, 2).

God is light and is clothed with light. In heaven, there will be no need for artificial light because God is its light: “The city did not need the sun or the moon to shine on it. The glory of God gave the city light. The Lamb was the city's lamp” (Revelation 21:23).

When we say that God is the Creator, we mean that no one created Him. God is eternal. The eternity of God means He has neither beginning nor end; He always existed. The Creator has no beginning means there was never a time He failed to exist.

Man cannot truly create because they must start with something that has already been created. We cannot make a table without using wood that is already in existence. We cannot make a car without using the metal that already exists on this planet. But God created the universe from NOTHING. He spoke them into existence (Genesis 1:3, 6, 9). David says: “For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast” (Psalm 33:9).

You may argue: “But God did not create the first man from nothing. He created Adam from the dust of the earth and the woman from a rib of the first man.” My question is: “Can God create Adam and Eve from NOTHING?” I’m sure He could. So why didn’t He do that?

It is because He wants to teach us these two lessons:
1. This life is Temporary: “For dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return” (Genesis 3:19). Solomon wrote: “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it” (Ecclesiastes 12:7).
2. To give a lesson on the proper Roles and Authority for the man and woman: “For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man” (1 Corinthians 11:8, 9).

Indeed, the earth is full of the riches and wisdom of God. When the Psalmist ponders on all these things, he bursts into praises: “I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being” (v.33). Let us praise the LORD for His marvellous works of creation.
