Gal 1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

There are only two kinds of preachers in this world – True and False preachers. True preachers are truth preachers. Truth preachers preach the truth. They preach exactly what as written in the Word of God. They obey and do the commandments that are written in the Word of God. They preach from the oracles of God. They do not preach the doctrines of men.

As the name implies, false preachers preach falsehood. They don’t preach as what is written in the Word of God. They omit some of the commandments of God. They set aside some of the commandments of God. They disobey some of the commandments of God. Hence, they do not preach a hundred percent of the Word of God. Those commandments they set aside, omit them, don’t want them, they replace them with their doctrines.

God’s word plus men’s words equals the devil’s words. Paul warns about those who preach another gospel: “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed” (Galatians 1:8).

What does “any other” mean? It means different. It means it is not the same gospel that Paul and the rest of the apostles preached. What is the consequence if one is guilty of preaching a gospel different from the apostles? “Let him be accursed.” It means eternal damnation. It means those who preach falsehood cannot go to heaven. Our Lord concurs and says: “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 7:21).

Knowing the damnation, why are there still so many false preachers and teachers in this world? One reason is this: MONEY! Paul wrote: “For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple” (Romans 16:18).

Paul says false preachers do not serve Jesus Christ but themselves. The phrase, “their own belly,” means they serve their own “lusts,” their own private interests; they do this to obtain support. They are “hirelings”. Hirelings work for money. They are for hire to anyone who pays.

Obviously, if one works for money, he listens to the ones who pay him. Today he works for the Baptists; he preaches the Baptist doctrines. Next year, he works for the Methodists; he preaches the Methodist doctrines. False preachers are men pleasers.

Paul was not a men pleasers. He said: “For if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ” (v.10b). Paul chose to be a servant of Christ instead of a servant of men. He asked: “For do I now persuade men, or God?” (v.10a). He meant: “Am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God?”

The answer is obvious: Paul was seeking God’s approval. What kind of preacher does God approved? One who preaches the whole truth! I put an emphasis on the word “whole” because followers of false preachers are saying their preachers quote from the Bible. Please remind them that the devil also can quote the Scripture (Matthew 4:6). Like the devil, false preaches misquote the Scripture. If one preaches a half truth, it implies the other half is a lie.

A white cloth with a dirty patch is a stained cloth; it’s no longer white. Likewise, when one mixes lie with truth, the result is not half truth but lie. Truth must be 100%; anything less is no longer truth.

Preachers, preach the truth (2 Timothy 4:2). Preach to please God and not men. May truth prevails!
