Churchgoers Boast Better Mood, Especially on Sundays

Just a quick introduction to the "New You Can Use" issue of the Preacher's
Pen Newsletter. As the newsletter has grown throughout 2012, I began
inserting news tidbits into the newsletter as information and resources that
others could use as illustrations, educational opportunities and even file
them away for future use.

Each news headline contains a link to the article on the news website.
Remember I cannot control, nor do I agree, with everything that the news
site will post. However, I am using sites that I read on a daily basis. Just
to be clear, these are not articles I have written, just articles I am
sharing.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Americans who attend a church, synagogue, or mosque
frequently report experiencing more positive emotions and fewer negative
ones in general than do those who attend less often or not at all. Frequent
churchgoers experience an average of 3.36 positive emotions per day compared
with an average of 3.08 among those who never attend. This relationship
holds true even when controlling for key demographic variables like age,
education, and income.

64% Believe in God of the Bible (from Rasmussen Report)

Two-out-of-three Americans (64%) believe in the God of the Bible. A new
Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey also finds that 12% do not
believe in God at all. Eleven percent (11%) believe in some form or essence
of God, five percent (5%) in some other form of God, and eight percent (8%)
